It's Strange Planning my Someday Funeral

No, I'm not going anywhere, not right away, anyhow. Everybody relax.

But as I go through my days, there are moments, just once and awhile, where I spend time thinking of what my very own funeral should be like.

I know it's morbid. In fact, Vaughn refuses to talk to me about things such as this. I guess I understand why. It's weird.

This is not just my little twisted idea though. When we got our will made, it was suggested we write down some ideas on the provided form so our loved ones would have an easier time planning...you know, when we're gone.

A week or so ago we were singing a favorite song at church, one I sang as a young camper around a campfire.  Such sweet harmony. It's on the list. And maybe it's not the kind of song everybody does at a funeral, but it's the kind I want everybody to do at mine.

(I've always called it "Freely", but it's actually "God Forgave My Sin"...for my funeral brochure, if there is one, it shall be called FREELY, 'cause you can do that kind of thing when you're no longer living.)
God forgave my sin in Jesus' name
I've been born again in Jesus' name
And in Jesus' name I come to you
To share His love as He told me to

He said: 'Freely, freely, you have received
Freely, freely give
Go in My name, and because you believe
Others will know that I live.'

All power is given in Jesus' name
In earth and heaven in Jesus' name
And in Jesus' name I come to you
To share His power as He told me to

Have you ever thought about your own funeral? Have you given word to your peeps of how you'd like your casket, open or closed, to be cremated, to have graveside rites or a celebration of life?

Just thinkin' outloud today.

  1. Freely it is. If I last longer than you of course.

  2. I'm not sure about my own funeral. I think about it, but only in a very limited sense. I am only stuck on my things/debt and how I would like to make it as cheap as possible. So...for me it's just that I'd rather be cremated. (I just tried to spell that creamated...and when my computer said it was wrong I was happy...because having the word "cream" inside a term regarding burning a body was kind of sick'ning.)

    And Freely it is.
