Our True Color

In the month of January, my students and I studied about the colors of our skin. We discussed black and white and "colored". We read stories that helped us understand prejudice. And we know some things have changed for the better.

We matched our skin to multicultural-colored crayons, like peach, apricot, sienna and mahogany. Then we colored our faces with "our" color and created a cartoon-like version of ourselves for the hallway.

If I do say so myself...what a lesson. Our true color. Hope it lasts a long time, this lesson.
