Spring Break Gladness

Although it's raining and will probably continue to rain most of the week, it's going to be a great Spring Break. Here are some things I accomplished in the first two days:

1. Bank statements. I admit it, they pile up on me. I did two at Vaughn's shop and one at our house. Consider this scratched from my list (at least until the first of April).

2. Cleaned the office at the shop. Maybe it's not really CLEAN but it's much better than when I walked in on Friday. We're getting ready to start a big remodel over there, so I "made do".

3. Made dinner. More than once. Oh my goodness.

4. Washed sheets. And rugs. And washed and dried and folded and put away, all in one setting. This. never. happens.

5. Taxes. I won't say anything else about this subject at this time.

6. Watched Ellen. I love to watch her. While watching Ellen I went through every item in my closet and decided yes or no. Most were no's. Some are too big (woo-hoo) and some I'm just tired of. When Vaughn got home I guilted him into doing the same and we got his side spruced up too.

7. No make up. I love those kinds of days.

8. Cleaned Gabby's "bedroom", the storage room off the garage. She appreciates this, I'm sure. Woof!

9. Oh! And Vaughn and I went junkin' in Stillwater Saturday. Just got two vintage hankies but so enjoyed the time together on the hunt. More to come when the weather clears...we're sure garage sales are just around the corner!

Ahead of me during this Spring Break...grandgirls! They're coming Wednesday! Oh happy days!

A Day for Decorating

On this non-obligated Saturday I found myself decorating and rearranging and loving every minute.
This cute vintage-style yo-yo bunny is fun, don't you think?
Vintage phonics card meet Magnolia.
The shamrock Fiesta egg plate is a perfect place to display these cute handmade eggs.
This daisy tablecloth was in the drawer too long.
Mr. Goose found a cozy basket in which to spend Spring Break.
I love vintage Easter bonnets and gloves.
The HOME sign was made from license plates.
Found this cute wheelbarrow at a yard sale last summer.
The chairs are now fighting and have been separated by a salvaged table.
Grandmother made this tatted Easter basket.
This $1 estate sale find is welcome here. I love the sheep in the pasture and the people going into church.

Fiesta and forsythia.

Flea market Easter cards make me happy.

The red couch found a new home facing the television.

The library card catalog has never been on this wall.

I think I like it.

The rest of the house needs some tweaking too.

See you again soon.

Spring Break 2011

Of course I'm excited. We're out of school for a week for goodness sake.

But what ELSE does Spring Break mean (to me, anyway)?

Well, it means...

Skirt weather is coming. I love skirts. I've told you that before.

Forsythia is blooming. Jonquils too. Oh, and Flowering Almond is on it's way. Ahhh...

I'll be painting Easter egg yard decorations to sell at the shop.

Time for bunnies to make their appearance in my house and in my front yard.

Spring Break means...Just 9 weeks left in this school year.

I'm tired, for Pete's sake.

Spring cleaning. Pine Sol and me. (And I need Creative Me to show up. She's missing.)

I like my just-recently-acquired Granny Chic goose.

(I'll find a great place for her to hang out in this springtime house. Grandmother made her.)

Ideas for yard work. I said IDEAS. That's all right now. I worry my dog is still too young. But we might try it anyway.

Longer days.

Dreams of summer.

Springy Steps

I caught a glimpse of her as I pulled in the driveway yesterday. I had no spring left in my step. I had survived the first grade Easter party. And the wind.

I'm surprised I even looked her way. You know how it is...just can't wait to pull that car in the garage, change into some more comfortable clothes, get something to eat. But...wait a minute. Who has come to visit the Johnson House flower bed?

Flowering Almond, that's who.

She was so glad I noticed her and especially happy to get her photo made. Lovely spring. How can I not have a spring in my step with such beauty in this world?
